Group E

Ivory Coast will face Equatorial Guinea in the second match of Group E on Wednesday at the Jubama Stadium in Douala. On Tuesday, Algeria played a goalless draw against Sierra Leone in the same group. Group F

Tunisia will be playing Mali by 1pm on Wednesday at Limbe Stadium, Limbe. Tunisia will be highly motivated for their first game of the tournament against Mali, as they are the highest-ranked team in a group that also includes Mauritania and Gambia. Mali, who are also nicknamed the Eagles, are unbeaten in six World Cup qualification matches so far and kept a clean sheet in all of them, scoring 11 goals along the way. This game will be an exciting one for people not to want to miss.

Mauritania will face Gambia by 4pm on Wednesday, with both sides hoping to record a good start to the competition.

EKO HOT BLOG reveals that there have just been three encounters between Mauritania and Gambia. The last meet meetings were in the 2016 AFCON qualifications and the other one, a friendly fixture played back in 2015. Both teams boast a win against each other. The last encounter was a draw but that is a long way back in 2016 which should not have any significant impact on how these teams will fare against each other in this fourth meeting in the AFCON 2022 challenge.

Expectations on both sides are high but winning this match not only boils down to who is hungrier for playoffs but also defensive prowess of both teams. Looking at the last ten games, Mauritania has had an awful defensive performance compared to Gambia. Mauritania lost six of their last ten games and bagged only one victory within that duration. On the other hand, Gambia recorded 5 wins, 4 losses and one draw in as many previous matches.
