Obetta revealed that he has co-sponsored a bill aimed at amending the 1999 constitution to facilitate the creation of Adada State.
While there are various calls for other states within the South East, such as Etiti, Olu, Equity, Aba, and Anim, Obetta emphasized that Adada State should be the priority.
He stated, “If there is any state that should be created from the South East, the first should be Adada State. Since 1979, the people of the South East have endorsed its creation.”
He pointed out that Nsukka remains the only old province yet to be made a state, with other regions like Abakaliki, Awka, and Owerri having already achieved this status. “With our large population and landmass, we deserve to become a state,” Obetta added.
The lawmaker also used the town hall meeting as an opportunity to review his legislative efforts over the past year and to gather feedback from his constituents on their needs and concerns.
He emphasised that his legislative focus has been on economic growth, job creation, poverty reduction, and securing projects that will have a positive impact on the lives of his constituents.
