Air Peace Responds to U.S. Charges Against CEO, Maintains Innocence
Reports indicate that Onyema and Eghagha have been under investigation since 2019 over alleged money laundering.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Onyema was accused of illegally transferring over $20 million from Nigeria to U.S. bank accounts, allegedly using fraudulent documents under the pretense of purchasing aircraft. Eghagha is also facing charges of aggravated identity theft in connection with the scheme.

In response to the latest allegations, Air Peace released a statement on Sunday, maintaining that both Onyema and Eghagha are innocent. The airline emphasized that these charges are part of a prolonged legal battle stemming from earlier accusations of financial misconduct dating back several years.
The company stated that its legal team is fully involved and is working diligently to ensure justice is served.
“Air Peace Limited is aware of recent media reports concerning our esteemed Chairman and CEO, Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, and Chief of Finance and Administration, Mrs. Ejiro Eghagha, regarding the latest legal charges filed by the U.S. Department of Justice. We understand the concerns this may have raised and wish to address the situation directly.
