EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued by its President, Abdulmunaf Sarina, described the suspension as a clear show of President Tinubu’s commitment to building a business-friendly environment and protecting vital sectors of the economy.
The proposed levy had sparked widespread criticism from manufacturers, importers, and customs agents, who warned that it would worsen inflation and weaken Nigeria’s trade competitiveness.
AON argued that if the government had implemented the levy, it would have had severe consequences for the nation’s airlines by significantly increasing their operational costs.
AON specifically praised Minister Wale Edun, calling him a “listening Minister” for his responsiveness to stakeholders’ concerns. The group believes his actions demonstrate strong patriotism and a dedication to fairness and economic development.
This “bold and thoughtful intervention” will go a long way in safeguarding the aviation sector, protecting jobs, and ensuring that Nigeria remains a competitive player in the global business environment, AON stated.
