Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo of Akure has decreed the closure of all markets, shops, and stalls in Akure as part of the annual Amole Festival, a longstanding tradition of Akureland.
According to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyeye Michael, this closure aligns with the cultural practices of the region. However, pharmacies are exempt from this closure.

The statement emphasised, “To be clear, all commercial activities, including markets, shops, and stalls across Akure metropolis, are to cease in observance of the festival. No exceptions will be made.”
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Traditional rulers and quarter chiefs are urged to enforce this directive within their areas.

The festival will not affect human or vehicular movement, and the palace extends its gratitude to the state government and security agencies for their support in upholding the community’s cultural heritage.
