The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has restated the Federal Government’s commitment to providing every Nigerian child with access to quality and inclusive education, regardless of social or economic background.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Dr. Alausa made this known at the 2025/2026 Scholarship Award and Fundraising Ceremony organized by the Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi Foundation (ASMAF) in Lagos.

He described the event as a celebration of hope and collective responsibility, noting that each scholarship award symbolizes an investment in human capital and Nigeria’s shared future.

The minister commended ASMAF for its dedication to empowering young Nigerians through scholarships and mentoring initiatives, saying the foundation’s efforts have helped bridge the gap in access to education, equity, and opportunity for less privileged students.
According to him, ASMAF’s programmes complement the Federal Government’s broader educational reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s education system to meet 21st-century demands.

He highlighted the achievements of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has supported over 600,000 Nigerian students and disbursed nearly ₦100 billion to students and institutions.
The minister also revealed that the government has expanded scholarship and bursary schemes, introduced new awards for technical and vocational education, and integrated STEM programmes to equip youths with practical and digital skills needed for the modern economy.
Dr. Alausa added that the Nigeria Education Data Initiative (NEDI) is being developed to create a comprehensive database for learners, teachers, and institutions, enhancing transparency and effective planning in the sector.

He urged scholarship beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity with gratitude, study hard, and contribute positively to their communities.
The minister also appealed to corporate bodies and philanthropists to support ASMAF’s scholarship drive, describing every donation as an investment in the nation’s future.
Dr. Alausa commended Professor Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi and the foundation’s board for complementing government efforts in building Nigeria’s human capital base.
