EKO HOT BLOG reports that Amaechi announced his departure on Wednesday in Abuja during the unveiling of the interim executive of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signalling his alignment with the new political platform.
Speaking at the event, Amaechi declared that Nigeria is currently in a severe state of collapse, emphasizing that the country needs more than just a change in political leadership. According to him, the current situation demands a total overhaul to rescue Nigeria from worsening economic hardship.
“Nigeria is completely destroyed. People can’t eat. People can’t buy food. There’s no money to buy food. Inflation is at its peak. And the federal government is busy going around trying to hijack the election. INEC is helping them to hijack the election,” Amaechi stated.
He further accused the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of conspiring to manipulate the 2027 elections in favour of the ruling party. Amaechi stressed that Nigerians must build not just another political party but a national movement that empowers the people to take back control of the government.
The former minister clarified that his decision was not about switching political parties but about initiating meaningful change for the country. “It’s not about changing the government, it’s about changing Nigeria,” he said.
Amaechi revealed that he resigned from the APC on Tuesday night, adding that he had already distanced himself from party activities. He expressed surprise that the party did not expel him despite his warnings not to invite him to meetings.

“You can’t be in a club where the majority are stealing and you don’t say anything,” he said, firmly cutting ties with the APC.
