The Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing skills-based education as a foundation for national growth during his address at the official launch of the Nigeria Talent Accelerator Network, held at The Anthonia, Ikoyi, Lagos.

”We are here not to only discuss skills development but to align our collective energy towards building a workforce that can drive industrial diversification, digital innovation, and inclusive prosperity. If we equip our youth with the right skills, we unlock the engine of our national competitiveness, he added.
Dr. Alausa announced the launch of the Nigeria Education Sector Initiative, a comprehensive framework designed to align education with employability and innovation. This initiative, under the Federal Ministry of Education, aims to produce graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also skilled, adaptable, and globally competitive.
He further highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing reforms aimed at aligning the curriculum with industry requirements, integrating technical and vocational training into mainstream education, and fostering innovation through public-private partnerships.
However, the Minister emphasized the Nigerian government’s commitment to youth empowerment and global influence through strategic investment in education and human capital development as the foundation of economic growth. He noted that President Tinubu’s policies are geared toward unlocking Nigeria’s potential to influence global geopolitics through a skilled and empowered youth population.

In his address, Dr. Alausa called for aggressive innovation in workforce development, citing findings from the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs report, which reveals that nearly 5% of all current skills are projected to change within five years, underscoring the urgency of reskilling and upskilling efforts.

Similarly, he emphasized that automation, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and the digital economy are rapidly redefining the competencies needed to succeed in the modern labor market. These shifts, he noted, are not just technological but transformational.
For Nigeria, with a population exceeding 220 million and a youth demographic of over 140 million, Dr. Alausa described the moment as a defining opportunity. He urged policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to align national strategies with global trends, positioning Nigeria’s youth as a competitive force in the future economy.
