Anambra: Gunmen Kill Two Police Operatives in Uruagu
Unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed two police operatives in Uruagu, a community in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the tragic incident took place in the early hours of Thursday while the officers were conducting investigative duties.
An eyewitness told Punch that the assailants launched a surprise attack on the police officers, resulting in a fierce gun battle. The attackers then threw an improvised explosive device (IED) at the police team, which detonated and killed two officers instantly.
The eyewitness stated, “During the exchange of gunfire, the hoodlums tossed an IED at the operatives, and it detonated, killing two of them on the spot.”

Confirming the incident, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, stated that security operatives have initiated a manhunt for the attackers.
He assured the public of the command’s commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and urged anyone with relevant information, especially eyewitnesses, to assist the police in their ongoing operation.
Ikenga said, “The Joint Security Force has launched a manhunt for the armed men responsible for the murder of two police operatives during an investigation operation early this morning, October 3, 2024, in Uruagu, Nnewi North.”
