Anambra Police Raid Gunmen Hideouts, Seize Weapons

In a statement on Wednesday, the command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said its Joint Security Force carried out the operation at the Ogbaru forest in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state on Friday.
Ikenga said during the operation, which spanned several hours, numerous camps were discovered and eradicated, with weapons and ammunition also being seized.
He said, “Anambra State Joint Security Force on Friday, extended its manhunt for criminals attacking security formations in the state to Ogbaru forest. Locations around Amiyi and Ochuche were combed for the insurgents.

“Troops of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy lent considerable firepower to the operation which completely routed the hoodlums from their hideouts in the forest.
“Several camps were found and destroyed during the operation which lasted several hours. Nine Improvised Explosive Devices recovered from the camps were safely defused by Police Bomb Squad.”
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, commended the military for its steadfastness in supporting the fight against criminality.
“The CP also expressed gratitude to the DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, NIS, and different local vigilante groups throughout the state for their outstanding collaboration, which is producing excellent outcomes in ensuring the safety of Anambra State.”

“The Commissioner of Police also issued a stern warning to the cultists causing chaos in the state capital, cautioning them that their time is running out. He emphasized that security forces will not stand idly by while they disrupt the peace of the state through deadly cult rivalries, resulting in loss of lives,” he emphasized.
