The year 2021 is proving to be a rough one for the sporting fraternity in Nigeria as more deaths are been recorded in that sector.
The latest casualty is former NFF Technical Director and Coach Kashimawo Laloko who passed on Sunday at 76.
“He had been feeling weak before he died on Sunday. It was as a result of weakness, not COVID-19,” Source told the press.
Indeed, Laloko just like Chief Festus Onigbinde passes as one of Nigeria’s well-trained coaches who at different times had taken up roles with CAF and FIFA.
More than any other thing he did in his lifetime, coach Laloko will be fondly remembered for the Pepsi Academy he instituted almost three decades ago.
That Academy was a talent factory that grew up a lot of players for various national teams.
Mikel Obi, Osaze Odemwingie, Soga Sambo, Elderson Echejile, Joseph Akpala, Yinka Adedeji, among many others were all product of the Pepsi Academy, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
