Eko Hot Blog reports that the high-level meeting attracted leading figures and stakeholders from across the senatorial district, with deliberations centered on strategic party reforms, membership harmonization, and preparations for upcoming elections in Lagos State.
In her welcome address, the Vice Chairman of the APC Lagos East Senatorial District, Yeye Olayinka Olusanya, lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what she described as bold and far-reaching reforms, noting that the administration’s policies are already positioning Nigeria for sustainable growth.
She urged party members to remain united and resolute, while proposing the introduction of a monthly dues system for elected office holders to strengthen party administration in line with the APC constitution.
“These reforms are courageous steps that will ultimately stabilize the economy and strengthen our institutions,” she said.
Also speaking, the APC Lagos State Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, expressed concern over the slow pace of the ongoing APC electronic registration exercise across the state.
He disclosed that only about 220,000 members have been registered so far, despite Lagos having a population exceeding eight million residents.
“Ikorodu is currently leading, while Epe and Ibeju-Lekki are still trailing in fifth and sixth positions,” Ojelabi noted.
He stressed the importance of the e-registration exercise in building a credible party database and announced mandatory registration targets for key local governments ahead of the January 31 deadline.
He added that incentives would be given to councils that meet or exceed their targets.
“We must take this exercise seriously if we want to remain electorally dominant,” he said.
Responding on behalf of local government chairmen, the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman of Conference 57, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, assured party leaders of total commitment to achieving the assigned targets.
“We will deploy every necessary strategy to ensure we meet and surpass our target,” Olowa assured.
In an interview, the lawmaker representing Epe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Murtain Abiodun Tobun, called on party members to intensify grassroots mobilization and act as advocates for the e-registration drive.
“Our strength lies at the grassroots, and every member must take ownership of this process,” Tobun stated.
Similarly, the Member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, Hon. Wale Raji, reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and commended the leadership for its proactive approach to party building.
“I remain fully committed to the growth and continued success of the APC,” Raji said.
The meeting witnessed an impressive turnout of party stalwarts, including Otunba Alebiosu (Baba Bush), Alhaji Akanni Seriki (Bamu), former Minister Chief Adeseye Ogunlewe, Chief Olorunfunmi Bashorun (Baba Aladura), Hon. Mamora, Chief Bode Oyedele (Kinniun Ibeju), Dr. Tola Kasali, among others.
