The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned what it called an orchestrated outrage and selective indignation by opposition parties over Nigeria’s engagement of a United States lobbying firm.
Eko Hot Blog The party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said the agitation, though loud, reflects either ignorance of modern governance or a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

In a statement, Oladejo emphasised that lobbying is a lawful and widely deployed tool of statecraft, used by governments in both advanced democracies and emerging economies to promote national interests, attract investment, counter misinformation, and strengthen diplomatic and security cooperation.
“Countries across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa routinely employ lobbying firms in strategic capitals such as Washington to influence policy, boost trade, secure development assistance, and protect strategic assets,” Oladejo said. “Nigeria’s action is neither novel nor improper; it is standard global practice.”
He added that the move signifies an end to the opposition’s unrestrained demarketing of Nigeria on the international stage. Oladejo noted that the Federal Government is aware of the resources historically deployed by the opposition to portray Nigeria negatively abroad, despite their repeated predictions of doom failing to materialise.

“By proactively projecting Nigeria’s reforms, priorities, and progress through legitimate global channels, the government has ensured that the true Nigerian story will now be told—from a positive, factual, and forward-looking perspective, not by those driven by cynicism and a destructive political agenda,” he said.
Oladejo further stated that the opposition’s discomfort stems not from concerns about probity, but from the fact that Nigeria has chosen confidence over apology, engagement over silence, and leadership over provincial thinking.
“Strategic international advocacy is not a crime; it is a necessity in a competitive global order,” he said, urging Nigerians to see through the manufactured hysteria and focus on Nigeria reclaiming its voice, defending its interests, and asserting its rightful place on the global stage.
