The party made this known in a statement issued by its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, on Thursday, saying the move sends a clearer message than any press briefing or political rebuttal.
According to the Lagos APC, the younger Atiku’s decision to align with the APC, rather than the African Democratic Congress, raises fundamental questions about trust, conviction and leadership within the opposition camp.
The party pointed to Atiku Abubakar’s long record of party movements, from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Action Congress, back to the PDP and now the ADC, arguing that such frequent switches have created public doubt about his ideological consistency and political direction.
It stated that the son’s defection reflects a quiet but powerful rejection of what it described as politics driven largely by ambition rather than principle.
The Lagos APC further framed the move as an implicit endorsement of the APC’s governance record and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It said the development reflects growing confidence among Nigerians, particularly younger political actors, in the ruling party’s leadership and policy direction.
Welcoming Abubakar Atiku Abubakar into the party, the Lagos APC urged Nigerians to view the decision as evidence of changing political tides across the country.
The party declared that the era of what it described as political tourism and ambition without ideology is gradually fading, as voters and emerging leaders increasingly apply stricter standards of credibility and consistency.

The Lagos APC concluded that leadership seeking national acceptance must first inspire confidence at home, adding that Nigerians are becoming more discerning in assessing political character, loyalty and vision.
