Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo has been ousted as Chairman of the Elections Committee, with Bassey Otu of Cross River State stepping into the role.

“The decision to replace Uzodimma with Otu underscores our commitment to transparency and fairness,” stated Sulaiman Argungu, the APC National Organizing Secretary.
Otu, previously the deputy chairman of the committee, now shoulders the responsibility of overseeing the re-run poll scheduled for February 22nd.

The decision to replace Uzodimma came after four prominent aspirants expressed doubts about his ability to ensure a fair election. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Chief Lucky Imasuen, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and General Charles Airhiavbere (retd.) called for his replacement, citing concerns over the integrity of the process.
