APC Suspends Uzor Kalu Hours To Election

• The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended party member, Orji Uzor Kalu hours before the Abia North election holds.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the Senate Chief Whip, and Senator representing Abia North less than 24 hours to the National Assembly election. The suspension was announced in a letter conveyed to Kalu by the ruling party.

Kalu has been at odds with the leadership and members of Abia APC over allegations that he has been undermining and sabotaging the party in the state.

The letter, jointly signed by the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Paul Nwabuisi, State Secretary, Chief Chidi Avajah, and the State Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, stated that Kalu’s suspension was due to “acts of disobedience and gross anti-party activities.”

According to the letter, Kalu has remained unrepentant and without remorse despite several warnings. The suspension came after thorough investigations and recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee set up by the Igbere Ward A in Bende Local Government of Abia State.

The Abia APC leadership stated that Kalu’s suspension was in consonance with Article 21B(i-v) of the APC Constitution, which he violated. The letter further read, “You are hereby suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

Kalu has been accused of working against the APC governorship candidate, Chief Ikechi Emenike, which might have prompted the suspension. The development could have a significant impact on the National Assembly election, especially in Abia North where Kalu represents.
