He said the military is aligning fully with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to decisively curb the renewed attacks.

According to the army chief, troops will be redeployed in larger numbers nationwide as part of a broader strategy to deny criminal elements freedom of operation.
He stressed that security agencies are under clear instructions to track down those responsible for recent attacks and ensure they face justice.
Shaibu’s comments come against the backdrop of worsening insecurity in Niger State and parts of northwestern Nigeria, where terrorist and bandit groups have stepped up assaults since late 2025.
Just over the weekend, gunmen reportedly invaded a market in Kabe District of Niger State, killing more than 40 people and abducting several others.
The COAS disclosed that the Nigerian Army is increasingly integrating modern technology into its operations to strengthen surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities across the country.
Speaking on the purpose of the conference, Shaibu explained that the annual gathering allows the army to review field operations, assess current doctrines and fine-tune training approaches in response to an evolving and complex security environment.

He said the aim is to consolidate gains recorded in 2025 and prepare more effectively for operational demands in 2026.
Earlier, the Commander of TRADOC, Maj.-Gen. Peter Malla, described the conference as the formal kickoff of activities for army training institutions in the new year.
He noted that the forum provides a critical platform for intellectual engagement and strategic reflection, adding that Nigeria’s security challenges demand a force that is flexible, forward-thinking and firmly grounded in doctrine and training.
Malla emphasized that prioritising doctrine and training remains essential to building an army capable of responding decisively to emerging threats and safeguarding the nation.
