He explained that the budget, with a total expenditure of over ₦4 trillion, is anchored on 4 key pillars: a human-centred approach, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy and effective governance.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the budget is designed to deliver a cleaner, safer, more inclusive, resilient and prosperous Lagos.
The governor spoke on Sunday at the 2026 Lagos Annual Thanksgiving Service, themed “Grateful for Unfailing Mercies,” held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. The event was organised by the First Family of Lagos State in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Sanwo-Olu said the thanksgiving service was an opportunity to appreciate God for His mercy and faithfulness to Lagos State and its residents.
He disclosed that Lagosians would benefit from extensive investments in road construction and rehabilitation, education and healthcare facilities, youth and sports infrastructure, drainage and flood control systems, housing projects, water schemes, waste management plants, court buildings, transport infrastructure including bus and ferry terminals, and the Omi Eko project.
“We are now 4 days into a new year, with 361 days ahead of us, each filled with promise and opportunity,” the governor said. “By God’s grace, Lagos State will not waste this abundance of opportunity.”

Sanwo-Olu noted that 2026 holds special significance as his final full year in office, adding that he is determined to make it a year of tangible impact for residents.
“This year must count. It must be deliberate, decisive and filled with extraordinary meaning and benefits for all Lagosians,” he said.
Among the projects slated for completion and commissioning in 2026 are the Ojo General Hospital, Odo Iya-Alaro Link Bridge, the new Massey Children’s Hospital, the Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub in Epe, the Psychiatric Hospital in Ketu Ereyun, Epe, and a new multi-storey office complex in Alausa.
The governor also listed key road projects to be delivered, including the Igbogbo–Bola Ahmed Tinubu–Igbe Road; Agric Isawo–Konu–Arepo Road (Phase 1); Gberigbe Road from Ewu Elepe to Gberigbe Town; Adamo–Akanun–Agunfoye–Lugbusi Road in Ikorodu; and the Opebi–Mende Link Bridge and approach roads in Ikeja.
Other projects include the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway Phase 2A, Magbon–Alade Township Roads in Ibeju-Lekki, and the Ijegun–Ijagemo and Akesan–Igando roads in Alimosho.
Sanwo-Olu paid tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for initiating the annual thanksgiving tradition during Tinubu’s tenure as governor. He also commended religious leaders for their prayers and continued support for the state.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, senior government officials, religious and traditional leaders, and political stakeholders.
