Omole expressed concern over certain opposition members using social media platforms to threaten the legitimacy of the upcoming inauguration and assert their own candidate as the President of the country, with intentions to disrupt the proceedings.
He emphasized that such behavior should not be tolerated, and security agencies should promptly arrest any opposition member found making inflammatory comments.
According to Omole, President-elect Bola Tinubu emerged victorious in a free, fair, and credible election, duly declared as the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in accordance with the Constitution and the Electoral Act. He emphasized the sacrosanct nature of Tinubu’s upcoming inauguration on May 29, asserting that no one can impede the constitutional process.
While acknowledging the existence of a few disgruntled elements on social media, Omole expressed confidence in the capacity of security agencies to address any breach of peace effectively.
He urged them to take immediate action in arresting individuals involved in making inciteful and treasonable statements, emphasizing the need to preserve peace and order during the transition period.
Highlighting the support received from progressives in the diaspora who backed the Tinubu-Shettima presidential ticket, Omole mentioned their commitment to contributing to the success of the new administration in delivering numerous democratic dividends.
He further revealed that Nigerians in the diaspora had already started returning to the country in preparation for the May 29 inauguration, demonstrating their solidarity and eagerness to be a part of Tinubu’s administration.
Expressing gratitude for the global outpouring of congratulatory messages, Omole extended his appreciation to the international community. He assured them of improved bilateral relationships with the Nigerian government under the leadership of President-elect Bola Tinubu.
