In a significant political development, Abbas Sani Abbas, the former Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eko Hot Blog reliably gathered that the move comes shortly after his dismissal by Governor Abba Yusuf, along with other cabinet members, following calls from NNPP leaders for the governor to assert more control over governance in the state.

Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President on Media and Publicity, confirmed Abbas’s defection in a statement on Saturday.
Abbas announced his decision to leave the NNPP during a visit to Senator Barau I Jibrin’s residence in Kano on Friday.
Over the past six months, the NNPP has witnessed a wave of defections, with hundreds of party leaders from all 44 local government areas of Kano State leaving the party and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, along with thousands of their supporters.
