EKO HOT BLOG reports that reports had circulated online alleging an attempt on Yerima’s life after his recent disagreement with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. But the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said no such incident was reported or recorded anywhere in the territory.
Despite this clarification, photos of a police patrol vehicle engaging with Yerima’s car surfaced online, prompting further speculation. In a follow-up statement, the command stated that the encounter was “a normal stop-and-search process” and not an attack.
The statement read that on 16 November 2025 at about 6:15 p.m., a patrol team stopped an ash-coloured Toyota Camry at the NNPC Junction in the Kubwa area for driving with a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows. Officers requested the driver’s identity and an explanation for the concealments, but the occupant declined, made several calls, and rolled up the tinted windows.

According to the police, three naval personnel later arrived at the scene, identified the occupant as their colleague, and were seen taking pictures and videos before leaving. The officers then allowed the vehicle to proceed, and the patrol team continued its duties without incident. The command described the circulating reports as “false, misleading, and maliciously crafted.”
