The CP addressed the student leaders over the necessity to set aside the anticipated protest in order to allow the government and ASUU to amicably resolve their issues.
CP Paul Odama made it clear to the students that he was always willing to work with them and that he expected the students to do the same. He also warned them about the risks involved in starting an economically damaging protest that could be taken over by thugs, as happened during the End Sars protest in 2020.
Suleiman Yusuf Issa, president of the students’ union, underlined his unwavering appreciation and support for the Kwara State Police Command in his response.
He explained to the CP that the association and the police in the state work together, and he pledged not to do anything that would jeopardize their friendly relationship or the tenuous peace that currently exists in the state.
He also explained that the association’s directive to close the airports only applied to the Zone D axis, which includes states in the country’s South West, while Kwara state is in Zone C, which includes states in the North Central axis.
