Atiku, Obi Deny Joint Ticket Talks for 2027 Presidency Following Viral Meeting

The camps of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have dismissed speculation about a possible alliance ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Social media buzzed with rumors after photos and a video of Atiku hosting Obi for breakfast at his Adamawa residence went viral. Atiku posted the video on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, captioning it: “It is breakfast time with my friend, #PeterObi, in the ‘land of beauty.’”

The video showed both leaders sharing a meal and engaging in friendly conversations, reigniting discussions about a potential alliance among key opposition figures.

This meeting follows recent remarks by PDP Deputy National Spokesman Ibrahim Abdullahi, who hinted at possible collaboration talks involving Atiku, Obi, and NNPP’s Rabiu Kwankwaso.

However, Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, clarified that the breakfast was a social visit tied to Peter Obi’s role as a keynote speaker at the 20th anniversary and 16th Founder’s Day of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), founded by Atiku.

“Politics didn’t influence this meeting. It was about friendship and a significant milestone at AUN,” Ibe said.

Similarly, Obi’s media aide, Ibrahim Umar, dismissed any political implications, emphasizing that the visit was purely for the AUN event. “People often read politics into everything, but this was simply about delivering a speech,” Umar explained.
