EKO HOT BLOG reports that during the meeting, Atiku reiterated his concern over what he described as the growing excesses of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, warning that its activities pose the greatest threat to Nigeria’s democratic system since the country’s return to civil rule in 1999.
In a statement shared via 𝕏, Atiku condemned the attack on El-Rufai and the ADC event, insisting that the government had descended into “a full-blown dictatorship.” He stressed the urgent need for an alternative political platform to restore purposeful leadership and protect democratic values.
“This evening, I paid a solidarity visit to former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over his attack by APC-sponsored thugs at the recent inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State. I reiterated that the activities of the Tinubu-led APC administration pose the greatest risk to our democracy since the return of democratic governance. It is concerning that this administration has turned into a full-blown dictatorship,” Atiku said.
The former Vice President revealed that both he and El-Rufai had resolved to harmonise their political strengths and unite in the quest to rescue Nigeria from what he described as “the incompetent and clueless Tinubu government.”
He added that their efforts would respond directly to the yearnings of Nigerians who, according to him, are disillusioned with the APC government and are yearning for a credible alternative that can deliver purposeful governance.
