Atletico’s Le Normand Diagnosed With Brain Injury After Head Clash

Atletico Madrid defender Robin le Normand sustained a “traumatic brain injury” following a head collision during Sunday’s Madrid derby.

The 27-year-old Spain international clashed heads with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni in stoppage time of the 1-1 draw at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Le Normand received treatment on the field, and Atletico Madrid later confirmed that medical tests revealed a traumatic brain injury with a subdural hematoma, which involves bleeding near the brain due to a ruptured blood vessel.

The club announced that the defender will adhere to the established recovery protocol for such injuries before returning to action.
