The Baale of Iraye-Oke Community, High Chief Moshood Olusegun Anwojue, has convened a strategic peace and security meeting aimed at reinforcing the community’s security framework and fostering stronger collaboration among residents and security stakeholders.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the meeting, held on Saturday, June 27, brought together traditional leaders, community elders, youth representatives, religious leaders, market leaders, security operatives, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on practical strategies for sustaining peace and tackling emerging security concerns within the community.
Addressing participants, High Chief Anwojue stressed that ensuring the safety of lives and property is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of every resident.
“Security is not the responsibility of security agencies alone. Every member of the community has a vital role to play in protecting our neighbourhood. When we work together, we create a safer environment for everyone,” he said.
The traditional ruler commended security personnel serving in the community for their dedication and professionalism, noting that their efforts have contributed significantly to maintaining peace and order in Iraye-Oke.
“I appreciate the sacrifices of our security operatives who continue to respond promptly to security concerns. Their commitment deserves the support and cooperation of every resident,” he added.
High Chief Anwojue urged residents to embrace the “See Something, Say Something” initiative by promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities to the appropriate authorities.
“We must remain vigilant and never ignore anything that threatens the peace of our community. Timely information can help prevent crime and save lives,” he stated.
He also appealed to community members to remain united, avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace, and continue to support traditional institutions and security agencies in promoting harmonious coexistence.
The interactive session featured contributions from participants, who highlighted the importance of intelligence gathering, youth engagement, neighbourhood vigilance, and stronger collaboration between residents and law enforcement agencies as critical measures for improving community security.
