Barakat had initially taken the baby under the guise of repairing her phone in Ayetoro, only to vanish without a trace.
The child’s mother, Mistura Edu, was left devastated when Barakat disappeared, leading to a frantic search by family members and law enforcement.
The suspect, Barakat, was apprehended by police in Iseyin after several days of investigation. During interrogation, Barakat made an unexpected claim, alleging that Mistura was a surrogate mother for her and her husband.
According to Barakat, the baby was conceived using her egg and her husband’s sperm and was placed in Mistura’s womb to carry to term. Authorities are still investigating the veracity of this claim.
The baby, thankfully unharmed, has been taken from the police station in Iseyin and is being transported back to Epe by the child’s biological parents.
The family, deeply relieved by the child’s recovery, is now focused on returning to their home and resuming their lives after the harrowing ordeal.
Local law enforcement officials are still investigating to find out more about the kidnapping and Barakat’s story.
The incident has caused a lot of discussion in Epe and nearby communities, with many people upset about what happened.
