Protesters who went to the Assembly with the deceased’s immediate elder sister, Damilola Titilayo Ayanwola, said it was painful that such an incident occurred.

They also urged the government to do more to ensure the safety of people and property.

Protesters also demanded justice and expressed concern about the safety of BRT vehicles.

Speaking to the protesters, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, promised that the legislative arm of the State Government will ensure that justice is served in the case.

Obasa, who stated that he and his colleagues are deeply concerned about the incident, expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

“The erroneous belief that it would be swept under the carpet is unnecessary. The driver has been arrested and is in custody,” the Speaker said.

“We are watching and must ensure justice is done on the case. The Governor has spoken about it and I just want to appeal that we work together to get justice.

“We will do everything to make sure that justice is served. Justice must be served. And everybody in Lagos must be protected.” he added.

While urging Nigerians not to interfere with the police investigation, he stated that the House will not take its eyes off the issue in order to ensure that justice is served appropriately.
