Suspected members of the Lakurawa group and armed bandits reportedly clashed in the Tapkin Giyayya area of Mashegu Local Government Area, Niger State, in a fierce gun battle that left casualties on both sides.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a post on X, claiming the confrontation began after a group of armed bandits allegedly travelled from forest hideouts in Zamfara State through the Tudun Magaji area into the Mashegu Forest.

According to residents, several fighters were killed during the exchange of gunfire, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

Authorities have not officially confirmed the incident, and the number of those killed or injured remained unclear as of the time of reporting.
Meanwhile, suspected bandits have reportedly killed the Chief Imam of Talluje village during separate attacks on Talluje and neighbouring Chofi village in Danchadi District of Bodinga Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
Two other residents also lost their lives in the Wednesday attacks, while hundreds of villagers reportedly fled to safer locations.

The latest incident raises the number of chief imams reportedly killed by bandits in Sokoto State within the past few weeks to three.
According to local sources quoted by Daily Trust, the attackers stormed both communities at about 4 p.m., opened fire indiscriminately and created widespread panic among residents.
The gunmen reportedly operated for about two hours before fleeing the area with an unspecified number of stolen livestock.
