He was born and bred in the city of Lagos City. For academic purposes, he spent part of his early adulthood residing in the ancient city of Ibadan. Dotun Oloniyo and his family often visited his ancestral home in Ekiti during childhood. He has a younger brother named Joel Oloniyo.
