BBNaija: Mercy Eke Apologises After Social Media Handler Calls Onyeka ‘Gold Digger’

Reality star Mercy Eke has issued an apology after a post from her social media handler referred to Big Brother Naija ‘No Loose Guard’ housemate, Onyeka, as a “gold digger.”

In a now-deleted tweet, the handler accused Onyeka of being with Ozee Mbadiwe solely due to his wealthy background.

The tweet from Mercy’s verified X account read, “Onyeka the Mbadiwe gold digger, sorry to burst your bubbles, there’s no gold in the twins… #BBNaija.”

EDITOR’S PICKS:

The post caused an uproar among fans, who quickly condemned the remark. In response to the backlash, Eke clarified that she had no involvement in the tweet, as it was made by her handler.

She expressed her frustration, saying she had moved on from anything related to Big Brother Naija and had no interest in the current season’s drama.

She wrote, “Can’t believe I’m waking up to this on my birthday. A handler who was supposed to post my birthday content and reply to birthday wishes got involved in a BBN drama, and now I have to deal with this mess???

“I have left everything BBN behind for Christ’s sake! And seeing such silly opinions, especially about a housemate I actually like! The only reason I’m not tagging this person’s main page is to avoid her being bullied by fans because this is highly unprofessional.

“I apologise to Team Onyeka, as this is so embarrassing coming from my account, and it definitely does not represent me or how I feel.”
