The Deputy Governor of Benue, Sam Ode, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to investing in women’s education, enabling them to become self-sufficient.
Ode made this reaffirmation while speaking at the 2024 Connect Her Network summit on Thursday in Abuja, stressing the importance of providing opportunities for women to achieve their educational and economic goals.

The event, themed “Rise and Thrive: Unleashing Women’s Potential,” was organised by Vimma Glide Limited, a non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with the Pan-African Chamber of Culture Trade and Investment.
The Deputy Governor underscored the crucial role of legislation in opening doors for women to acquire basic education, recognising it as a substantial investment platform with far-reaching benefits for individuals and society.
Deputy Secretary-General, African Affairs of the International Society of Diplomats, Prof. Tunji Asaolu, emphasised the need to empower women to contribute meaningfully to societal growth.
Asaolu, Vice-Chairman/CEO of the African School of Diplomacy and International Relations (ASDIR), emphasised that empowering women to become entrepreneurial was key to driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustainable development.
Also, the Chief Executive Officer of Vimma and Founder of Connect Her Network, Victoria Ogwuche, highlighted the need for financial grants and support to enable women to excel in their business ventures.
