Eko Hot Blog reports that a Lagos dispatch rider has landed in police net for selling three iPhones worth N1.7 million entrusted to him for delivery.
The Lagos State Police Command disclosed the bizarre development in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the command, operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) secured the arrest of the theft suspect.
The dispatch rider, Matthew Odah, aged 27, popularly known as Mr Lemon, was arrested at Apha Beach, Lagos after eight months on the run.
Odah on August 23, 2023 while working as a dispatch rider collected one iPhone 14 ProMax (128 GB) and two iPhone 11 (128 and 68 GB) meant for delivery to a customer in Lekki, Lagos.
Odah, on collecting the consignment, bolted and switched off his phone.
However, a sustained discreet investigation into the matter led to his arrest at Lemon Bus Stop, Alpha Beach, Lagos.
The suspect confessed to having sold the three iPhones in Obalende for N300,000.
Also arrested with him were the two buyers while one of the iPhones was recovered.
Suspects are to be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations.
In a related development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that a total of 1,019 suspected miscreants were arrested in different parts of the state in six days.
They were apprehended between April 8 and April 14.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned today.
Pedestrians using the PWD, Ladipo, Oshodi, and Berger bridges in Lagos State had lamented the presence of fierce-looking louts seizing control of the bridges.
