Boko Haram Attacked Me 3 Times, Nigerians Are Ingrates – Buratai
Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, rtd, the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, says Nigerians do not give him credit for the efforts he made to tackle the insecurity that ravages the country and also rid it of insurgency.
He noted that instead of being praised and commended for the shifts he put in when he held sway as the army boss, Nigerians castigate and vilify him.
Buratai also disclosed how he escaped death by a whisker when he was ambushed by Boko Haram on three occasions as COAS. .
The former Army chief spoke at an interdenominational prayer organised for him by Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude, in Kuta, Osun State, on Saturday.
The former army boss was represented at the occasion by Major Daniel Banjo (retd) and Wing Commander Mamman Yusuf (retd.), two of his course mates. He spoke through Banjo.
“At the war front, many things happened and Nigerians are not appreciative. Three times I was ambushed and jumped into the bush with my men and engaged the insurgents. My relationship with Olowu of Kuta is divine,” he said.
