BREAKING: Abducted Female Benue University Students Released

- Three abducted female students from Tarka University in Makurdi have been released, as confirmed by the Benue State Police Command.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed that three female students, abducted from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture in Makurdi, have been released.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the students were kidnapped on February 25, 2025, while returning from a late-night study session on campus, an incident that raised serious concerns about security at the institution.

Their release was announced on Thursday in a news flash shared by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on X.
In response to the abduction, the university management declared a one-week mid-semester break to address security challenges. This decision was detailed in an internal memo titled “Security Situation on Campus,” issued the day after the incident and signed by the Registrar, Dr. John David.
The abduction also drew strong reactions from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, both of whom called for increased efforts to ensure student safety.
