President Muhammadu Buhari has jet-off to London again for his routine medical check-up.
- Buhari is proceeding on an extended foreign trip that will last beyond two weeks with a four-day stop in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya to participate in the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP@50), scheduled for 3rd – 4th March 2022.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, on Tuesday morning, explained Buhari will proceed to London for routine medical checks that will last for a maximum of two weeks.
It reads: “Sequel to an invitation extended to him by his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta, President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja Tuesday, 1st March to participate in the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP@50), scheduled for 3rd – 4th March 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya.

“From Kenya, President Buhari will proceed to London for routine medical checks that will last for a maximum of two weeks.”
Recall that the house of reps had proposed a Bill seeking to sanction public officers from seeking medical help abroad with public funds.
The House also placed a N500 million fine and seven years imprisonment for any public official who violated the Act.
Rep Sergius Ogun (PDP-Edo) who sponsored the Bill, while leading the debate on the floor of the House in Abuja said the Bill would positively impact the lives and wellbeing of the people.
He said that the objective of the bill was to amend the principal Act so as to make provisions for sanctions against any public officer who violates the provisions of the Act, especially section 46 of the Act.
He said that the Act forbid any public officer should seek medical check-ups abroad except on recommendation which must be approved by the Minister or Commissioner of Health.
