Giroud broke Thierry Henry’s 13-year record as France defeated Poland 3-1 to book their quarter-final place on Sunday.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that France striker, Olivier Giroud has made history with his strike against Poland in the World Cup last 16 as France advanced to the quarter-finals.
Kylian Mbappe scored twice, and Olivier Giroud became France’s all-time highest goalscorer as Poland were knocked out of the World Cup from the last 16.

Giroud’s opener before half-time swung the game in France’s favour after they had struggled to make their mark against a limited but tough Polish side.
The AC Milan striker clipped a shot from close range past Wojciech Szczęsny to move past Thierry Henry with his 52nd goal for his country.
Giroud was involved with Mbappe’s first goal as France broke out of defence, the PSG star slamming a shot high past Szczęsny.
His second was even better, shifting the ball from left to right before curling a shot high into the opposite corner, despite the Polish keeper getting a finger to it.
Robert Lewandowski scored a consolation penalty in stoppage time that had to be taken twice after Hugo Lloris moved off his line to save Lewandowski’s first attempt.
