The Nigeria Police Force has filed a notice to discontinue the defamation case brought by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun against Lagos-based lawyer and author, Dele Farotimi.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that a document dated January 29th, obtained by Channels Television, shows that the notice was filed under Section 108 (1) (2)(a) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, seeking to withdraw the case pending at the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti.
Signed by police prosecutor Samson Osubu, the notice states that the police will ask the court to strike out the charge following the request of the complainant, Aare Afe Babalola, who decided to drop the case after interventions from well-meaning Nigerians.
