Traders at the popular Ile-Epo market in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State were on Monday thrown into pandemonium following an attempt by hoodlums to set a police station in the market ablaze.
It took the intervention of security operatives who stormed the area in large numbers to stop the assailants from setting the station ablaze.
The traders in the busy market, EKO HOT BLOG gathered, scampered for safety over fear of being attacked by the hoodlums.
It was further learnt that a police officer on duty clashed with one of the market boys.
A source revealed that the market boy tried to hijack the police’s rifle before a bullet was released in the process.

The source further disclosed that in protest, the hoodlums set a section of the market ablaze and also tried to burn a police station at the back of the market.
It was gathered that the assailants were, however, repelled when more men of the Lagos State Police Command arrived at the scene.
It was also learnt that the market boy was rushed to a hospital in the area.
Confirming the incident via a brief statement, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said normalcy has been restored in the area.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered for thorough investigation into the incident.
“The command wishes to debunk the rumor that Ile Epo Police Station was set ablaze by the hoodlums. This news is false and should be disregarded. The command intends to give details of the incident as soon as possible,” the police spokesperson said.
