THE Executive Chairman, Jemaa local Government area of Kaduna State Mr. Peter Danjuma Averik says all the projects his council has executed over the years are base on Critical Community NEEDS Assessment and the financial strength of the Council.
Mr. Peter Averik stated this during a three-day zonal budget town hall meetings organised at Godogodo, Kagoma and Kafanchan zones in partnership with Community Development Charter, CDC and Coalition of Association on Leadership Peace Empowerment and Development, CALPED.
The Chairman explained that the town hall meetings with the theme “Budget Performance and Strengthening Community Development Charter, CDC” was geared toward strengthening Grass-Roots Democracy as well as encouraged Community Participation in Budget Processes and Governance.
Mr. Averik who gave detailed account of his stewardship said low financial profile of the local government had affected his administration and hinder the council from achieving more especially within the last two years.

“Most of the projects you see were executed within the first ten months of our coming to office. The last two years of our administration were bedevilled with financial challenges, hence, our inability to execute more projects “ he said.
Mr. Averik however observed that, the best approach to speedy Community Development in the face of dwindling revenue amidst infrastructure deficit was for Communities to embark on self-help efforts to enable vibrant rural economy thrive toward improving the social well-being of people.
He commended Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai for his efforts in institutionalising Open Governance in the state alongside his support for the council regardless of political affiliations and pledged the people’s support and cooperation to enable a successful implementation of state Programs in the area.
Also speaking, a member, Coalition of Association on Leadership Peace Empowerment and Development CALPED, Mr. Martins H. who joined the meetings via zoom advised the people to use the budget town hall meetings as veritable platforms to engage government on the practical needs of their respective communities.
Mr. Martins suggested better ways for improved government-community relationship which he described as helpful in the quest for sustainable development and enhancing livelihood in the rural areas.
He commended the chairman for his transparency and accountability initiatives as exemplified by his continuous community and stakeholders engagement on issue critical to peace and confidence building and grassroot development.
Participants from the three zones applauded the sterling administrative qualities of the chairman and the development successes recorded within his tenure particularly in the areas of peace, rural development, primary education and health among others.
They drew Government attention on the need to deepen peace building activities and areas demanding government attention such as the Ninte and Nindem bridge in Godogodo ward, rural electricity in Atuku ward, grading of road at Maigizo ward, construction of more classrooms in Kafanchan ward B Primary school and the employment of people with disabilities among Others.
