EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Afrobeats star shared with tennis legend Roger Federer that his stage name, “Burna Boy,” originated from his early passion for comic books and superheroes, Eko Hot Blog gathered.
Burna Boy recalled spending countless hours sketching characters such as Spiderman and Superman, while also inventing his own unique superheroes.
It was during this creative period, he explained, that the idea of becoming a comic book character himself gave rise to the name he carries today.
“I used to draw superheroes when I was younger. I used to do the comic drawing of them. That’s how I got the name Burna Boy, ’cause I wanted to be a character in the comic book,” he shared.
Since then, Burna Boy has grown into one of the most celebrated African artists worldwide, with chart-topping hits like Last Last and Rollercoaster.
His influence has extended beyond Africa, earning him numerous international recognitions, including the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album.
