He explained that the success was a result of sustained and coordinated efforts by security agencies to ensure the by-elections are conducted peacefully and without interference from criminals.
The suspect, Shehu Aliyu Patangi, was reportedly arrested at 3:30 am on Saturday at a popular hotel along Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis.
Hassan said the seized cash was believed to be intended for bribing voters to compromise the electoral process. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had planned to use the money to influence eligible voters.
He added, “During questioning, the suspect admitted to the crime and pleaded for leniency.”

Hassan noted that the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, expressed appreciation to the sister agencies for their teamwork and swift action.
He also warned that anyone, regardless of status, found attempting to disrupt the electoral process would face the full force of the law.
“The Police Command assures residents of its commitment to providing maximum security before, during, and after the elections,” he said. “We urge the people of Kaduna State to exercise their voting rights peacefully and lawfully without fear or intimidation.”
