Eko Hot Blog reports that Asiwaju Carlo Babatunde Sonupe, better known as Asiwaju Carlo, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward E, Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA), Lagos State.
He was admitted into the fold of the ruling party at an event on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
According to a statement shared with Eko Hot Blog on Monday, Sonupe praised the leadership of the APC within the ward and local government as he declared his loyalty to the party.
The politician also praised Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs and gormer Deputy Governor of Lagos State, for her motherly and leadership roles.
Furthermore, he stated his commitment towards the party. He emphasized the fact mothers are anchors in every home and Princess Orelope-Adefulire, also known as Mama Alimosho, is the anchor of the party in Alimosho.
Meanwhile, Asiwaju Sonupe also declared his intention to run for the local government Chairmanship when the time comes.
The new APC member stated that his commitment to the party goes beyond his political ambition as it is not a Do or Die affair.
However, he appealed to the party leadership to give him a chance to prove himself by making Alimosho a prototype of what a good community should be.
Asiwaju Sonupe echoed the fact that Nigeria has gone beyond the era of money politics.
“If given the chance, I will make our mother proud,” he said in a apparent reference to Princess Orelope-Adefulire.
Asiwaju Sonupe was accompanied by the leadership of various groups in Alimosho, including the Alimosho Bikers club, the Alimosho Professionals Iniatives, Alimosho Dog lovers, Alimosho ANTP, Alimosho TAMPAN, Alimosho Models, family, and friends totaling about 55.
On the part of the APC, the party leadership and members in Ward E of Alimosho LGA welcomed the newest member and his followers into their fold with songs and display of love.
