Eko Hot Blog reports that the Federal Government and the Organised Labour have reached new resolutions in a bid to end the ongoing nationwide, indefinite strike.
The new resolutions were reached at an emergency meeting on Monday night, only hours after labour embarked on the industrial action. The strike has crippled various sectors, including the power and aviation industries.
EDITOR’S PICKS
Recall that the workers had embarked on the strike after rejecting the N60,000 minimum wage proposal by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage (NMW).
However, one of the new resolutions reached at the latest stakeholders meeting is that President Bola Tinubu is committed to a National Minimum Wage that is higher than N60,000.
The parties also resolved that the Tripartite Committee is to meet everyday for the next one week with a view to arriving at an agreeable National Minimum Wage.
Additionally, labour leaders are to convene a meeting of their “organs” to immediately consider the commitment to arriving at an agreeable number.
