Chad Suspends Visas To US Citizens
- Chad suspended U.S. visas in response to Trump’s new travel ban.
- President Itno cited national pride and reciprocity.

The Chadian government has ordered the suspension of visas for US citizens in its country.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that President Mahamat Idriss Itno of the Central African country ordered the suspension as a reprisal for the travel ban US President Donald Trump imposed on Chad.

Trump said the ban on Chad and 11 other countries was in the interest of national security.
Trump Bans Citizens of 12 Countries from Entering the US
Itno in a Facebook post on Thursday, hit back at Trump with a matching visa ban.
The Chadian leader said, “I instructed the government to act in accordance with the principles of reciprocity and suspend the issuance of visas to citizens of the United States of America,”

“Chad has no planes to offer, no billions of dollars to give but Chad has his dignity and pride.”
Africa is the continent worst hit by Trump’s travel ban, as seven made the list of 12.
The countries listed on the ban include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Meanwhile, there will be heightened restrictions on visitors from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
However, the order also said the secretary of state may grant exemptions on a “case-by-case” basis.

In reaction to this, the African Union (AU) said it was “concerned about the potential negative impact” of the measures and called on the US to adopt “a more consultative approach” with the countries concerned.
