Despite Victor Osimhen recently signing a new contract with Napoli earlier this year, which included a release clause of approximately €130 million.
Nevertheless, interested clubs remain undeterred, continuing to make offers for the highly sought-after striker.
After standout seasons with Napoli, the Super Eagles striker has risen as one of the most coveted forwards in European football.
As reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, PSG is leading the race to acquire the 25-year-old.
They view the Nigerian striker as an ideal successor to Kylian Mbappé, who is set to join Real Madrid.
However, the French champions face stiff competition from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool.
All poised to initiate their bids for the player in the imminent days.
Sky Sport Italia transfer expert, Gianluca Di Marzio, wrote that Chelsea had approached Napoli to ask about Osimhen as well.
According to the Italian, the Blues are hoping to lower the cost by including Lukaku as part of the deal.
Not just PSG on Victor Osimhen. For the Nigerian striker, the French can soon open negotiations with the Neapolitans.
“Who however have also had initial contacts with Chelsea in the meantime,” Marzio said.
“The English are trying to understand the feasibility of an 80/90 million operation with the inclusion of Lukaku plus a young player in the negotiation.
“Lukaku is a target of the next sporting director Giovanni Manna, who already wanted to bring him to Juventus in an exchange with Vlahovic.”
Napoli’s upcoming appointment of Giovanni Manna as their director of sport adds an intriguing twist, given his previous attempt to lure Lukaku to Juventus last summer.
Meanwhile, Lukaku has expressed his desire to depart from Chelsea, indicating a preference to remain in Italy.
Following his loan spell at Inter, he spent the current season with Roma.
The acquisition of Osimhen will provide a significant boost for the London club, which has heavily depended on Cole Palmer.
This is due to the inconsistency of Nicolas Jackson, who was brought in from Villarreal last summer.
Despite enduring significant absences during the 2023/24 season due to injuries and national team duties at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
