EKO HOT BLOG reported on Monday that a powerful earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria has claimed over 4,100 lives and left many more injured, but the latest information now is that former Chelsea player, Christian Atsu who was reported trapped in the disaster has been rescued.
The disaster caused widespread devastation, flattening entire neighbourhoods in the affected areas. Amidst the chaos and rubble, former Chelsea and Newcastle footballer Christian Atsu was reported missing.
However, on Tuesday morning, the news of his rescue was confirmed by his team-mate Kerim Alici, who appeared on Turkish TV.

According to Mustafa Özat, the Vice President of Hatayspor, Atsu was rescued from the destroyed building but sustained injuries. A video shared on social media by Ajansspor showed a rescue team in the village of Ekinci in the Adıyaman District, and it is claimed that the voices of Atsu and the club’s sporting director Taner Savut were heard from under the rubble.
However, the rescue of Taner Savut, the sporting director, remains a concern as rescue teams continue to navigate the rubble in an effort to save him. Meanwhile, Volkan Demirel, a well-known figure in Turkish football, has made an appeal for other countries to send all available resources to assist in the rescue and recovery effort.
In conclusion, the earthquake has caused widespread destruction and loss of life in Turkey and Syria, but the news of the rescue of Christian Atsu has brought some hope to the affected communities.
