EKO HOT BLOG reports that this will be Justice Kekere-Ekun’s first major event following her confirmation as CJN by the Senate on September 25, 2024. The Supreme Court, after concluding its annual vacation, resumed on September 23, 2024.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM and will include speeches from key figures in the justice sector, such as the Attorney General of the Federation, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
During the special court session, the CJN will deliver a state-of-the-judiciary address, reviewing the performance of the Supreme Court and the judiciary for the 2023/2024 legal year.
Earlier this year, on July 30, 2024, the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee, chaired by the immediate past CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, selected 87 out of 98 nominees for the prestigious SAN rank, which is reserved for lawyers with at least ten years of legal practice who have excelled in their careers as advocates or academics.
