EKO HOT BLOG reports that in July, President Tinubu pledged to provide 36 CNG buses to labor unions across the country. This commitment was made during meetings with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), where the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers was a key point of discussion.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, this initiative is aimed at mitigating the rising cost of living for workers.
He also noted that each of the 36 buses is powered by compressed natural gas and has a seating capacity of 100 passengers, making them a viable solution for improved public transportation.
On Sunday, September 29th, the official presentation of the buses was carried out on behalf of the federal government by Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, in line with the administration’s commitment to providing support for workers and students.
