Kano Minimum Wage
The Kano State High Court has directed the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) to proceed with the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, October 26.
This ruling, delivered by Justice Sanusi Ma’aji, contradicts an earlier Federal High Court decision that questioned the composition of the KANSIEC electoral panel.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Justice Ma’aji, responding to a lawsuit filed by KANSIEC against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 13 other parties, affirmed that KANSIEC has the legal authority to manage and conduct local government elections across Kano’s 44 local government areas.

He emphasized that any attempts to disrupt the election process are invalid and ordered security forces to ensure the protection of voters and property during the election.
This decision comes after Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal High Court in Kano temporarily halted the election on Tuesday, citing concerns about KANSIEC’s chairman allegedly being a member of the ruling NNPP in the state.
That earlier suspension had sparked concerns among state officials and civil society groups, who argued that it infringed upon the democratic rights of Kano residents.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has rejected the Federal High Court’s suspension, affirming that the elections will proceed as scheduled.
